College Campus Visits: Bring with you on your college campus visits a copy of the National Survey of Student Engagement copy of "A Pocket Guide to Choosing a College: Questions to ask on your college visit"  and a copy of the "Which college is right for you?" A workbook to help you find colleges that are investing in student success.  The Associated Colleges of the Midwest also provide questions for a campus visit.

The guides and the Campus Visits handout will be helpful resources for you on your college visits.  These resources are designed to help you find colleges that are right for you!


Attending college fairs is another good way to learn about colleges.  The Associated Colleges of the Midwest handout on Going to a college fair is full of tips for maximizing the college fair.

"Making A Perfect Match"

The National Association for College Admission Counseling invites you to explore their Student and Parent Resources on their website.  The NACAC resources include advice on College Preparation, College Search, Applying to College, Paying for College and Succeeding in College.

1. Ask for a Recommendation ONLY if the school/program requires one!
2. Give your recommender ample time to complete the recommendation — preferably 4 weeks.
3. Provide all appropriate forms — plus any forms requested by teacher/recommender.
 4. Write a thank you note to your recommender!
